There are 4 questions that can lead to a huge difference in the quality of instruction your child receives and the amount of extra work and hassles the parent must deal with. You and your child’s overall enjoyment and satisfaction with being involved in a dance program can depend on them.
1. Does the Studio Offer all the Programs I Need? Is There a Set Way for Students to Progress?
If a studio is servicing only one part of the dance studio industry you may wind up needing to find a new studio as soon as you begin. If they only teach pre-dance, where do you go when your child is older and ready for more? If they only teach once a week recreational classes you will need to find a more serious studio if your dancer wants more rigorous, professional training. And if one dancer in the family wants serious training and the other just wants to take class for fun, you will be traveling between two studios as well as paying more tuition without the benefit of a family discount.
We service all sectors of the dance studio industry: Pre-Dance, Recreational Dance (Vital Dance 8 week sessions), Commercial Dance (year round one day per week classes), Professional Training (year round 1 or more classes with required Pilates/Tech Class) as well as Fitness and Pilates Mat classes (4 week sessions for teens and adults).
Each student in the training program is tested on technique and artistry they have achieved throughout the dance season. If the student shows that they have mastered the curriculum their current level, they are moved on to the next level.
2. What is the Size of the Class?
If the dance class has fewer students in it, each child will receive more personalized attention, and learn more while having more fun. With younger students, a smaller class size makes it easier for a teacher to maintain control over a class and make sure each student understands the instruction and their basics.
AIM’s smaller class sizes allows and ensures that students are not developing bad habits or improper technique. Our program limits all classes based on student’s ages and ability levels. Class sizes are limited to 7 students in pre-school, and 8 students in Pre-dance. All other classes are limited to a maximum of 10 students.
3. What are the Performance Opportunities? If There are Extra Performances Does Time Spent Rehearsing in Class Interfere with Time Spent Learning Technique?
Our programs have a year end recital. AIM offers more performance experiences throughout the year (Winter Mall Performance, Spring Dance Days and others) without sacrificing technique in lieu of choreography for performances.
4. What Kind of Customer Service Can You Expect? Are You Kept Well Informed to Avoid Any Surprises?
Costumes, schedules. recitals. tickets, required dance wear and fees. It can all be very confusing if the parents are not kept well informed. There is nothing more exasperating to a parent then to get hit with hidden fees and unexpected work. When you enroll in classes here, you get everything you need to know for the entire year in a Handbook. If your questions are not answered by this handout, I am always available to answer your questions. A copy of our hand book is also available on line if you should loose it. Our new website is not only set up for new students to learn about us but for our parents to access all our hand outs.
Art In Motion wants your experience with us to be as enjoyable as your child’s so we strive for excellence in our relationship with you as well. It’s all part of the extra value you get as a member of the Art in Motion Family.
